I really hope Twitter doesn’t shut down fully because oh boy has it been a huge part of being able to connect with so many in the games industry. But, hey, lets give tumblr a go again. It’s been a while. I hope you’re all doing well!
I know that tumblr really supports people with mental illness, and I think that’s great. But I also think it’s important to say this:
- being mentally ill does not give someone a free pass to be a dick to you and make you feel like shit
- if your friend or significant other is mentally ill and is also horrible to you or negatively impacting on you, you’re not obligated to stay with them - if you can’t cope, it’s ok to walk away
- even if you don’t have a mental illness, your well-being and feelings still matter
- even if you don’t have a mental illness, it’s still ok to put yourself first
